Text to Handwriting Cutting Off Text? Limits and Fixes Explained
Why long text gets cut off in a text-to-handwriting image, how many lines each style fits, why fonts look plain, and how to make several matching pages.
The short answer
The Text to Handwriting tool draws your text onto a single fixed-size page of 620 × 320 pixels. Text that runs past the bottom is simply not visible, so it is missing from the PNG you download. Each style fits roughly 7 to 9 lines. For longer text, split it into chunks and make one image per chunk. If the writing looks like a plain computer font, the handwriting fonts did not load; reload and wait a couple of seconds before downloading.
How the page is drawn
Knowing the layout helps you plan:
- The page is 620 pixels wide and 320 pixels tall, in landscape shape.
- Text starts 50 pixels from the top. On Lined paper it starts to the right of the red margin line; on Blank and Grid paper it starts near the left edge.
- Long lines wrap at word boundaries to fit the width.
- Pressing Enter starts a new line. An empty line adds a gap of 70% of a normal line.
- There is no second page. When the text reaches the bottom, the rest is drawn off the image.
How many lines fit in each style
| Style | Font | Line spacing | Lines that fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cursive | Dancing Script | about 39 px | 7 |
| Casual | Caveat | 42 px | 7 |
| Neat | Patrick Hand | about 36 px | 8 |
| Messy | Permanent Marker | about 34 px | 9 |
"Lines" means lines after wrapping. One long sentence can become two or three lines. How many words fit on a line depends on the font and the words, so use the preview: if the last line of your text is not visible, it will not be in the download.
Fix 1: split long text into several images
Keep the same style, ink colour and paper for every chunk so the images look like one document.
To combine the pages into one file, put the PNGs into a PDF with the JPG to PDF tool in page order.
Fix 2: get more text on each image
- Use Messy or Neat. They fit 9 and 8 lines, against 7 for Cursive and Casual.
- Remove blank lines. Each empty line costs most of a line of space.
- Shorten the text. For notes, bullet-style short lines often read better than long sentences anyway.
- Avoid very long words or URLs. A word longer than the line width is not broken and will run off the right edge.
Fix 3: the text looks like a normal font
The four styles use handwriting fonts from Google Fonts: Dancing Script, Caveat, Patrick Hand and Permanent Marker. The page loads them when it opens and starts drawing after about 1.5 seconds, showing "Loading fonts…" until then.
If the fonts are slow to arrive or blocked, the preview is drawn with your browser's fallback font, and that is what gets downloaded.
What to do:
Fix 4: text does not sit on the ruled lines
On Lined paper, the blue lines are 36 pixels apart, starting 60 pixels from the top. The text line spacing is set by the style instead: about 39 px for Cursive, 42 px for Casual, about 36 px for Neat and about 34 px for Messy. So:
- Neat stays closest to the lines.
- Casual and Cursive drift further below the lines with each row.
- Messy drifts slightly above them.
If you want text to look as if it was written on the lines, use Neat on Lined paper. If alignment matters less than style, Blank or Grid paper hides the mismatch.
Fix 5: it looks too perfect
Every letter in a font is identical each time it appears, so generated "handwriting" can look mechanical close up. You can soften this:
- Choose Blue ink or Pencil rather than black, which looks more like a pen or pencil on paper.
- Use Casual or Neat, which look more like everyday writing than Cursive.
- Keep the image at its normal size. Zooming in makes repetition obvious.
What the downloaded file is
- Format: PNG.
- Size: 620 × 320 pixels, which is fine on a screen but small for printing on A4. Printed full-width, it will look soft.
- Background: the paper colour of the style you picked (off-white for Lined and Blank, light grey for Grid).
If you need a larger or sharper result for printing, this tool is not the right fit; it is designed for quick on-screen images.
A note on schoolwork
Many teachers and exams require your own handwriting. Using a generated image where handwritten work is required can break the rules, so check before submitting. The tool is best for notes, mock-ups, greeting text and fun images.

Frequently asked questions
Why does my text get cut off at the bottom?
The tool draws onto a fixed 620 × 320 pixel page. Anything that does not fit is drawn below the visible area and is not in the PNG. Split long text into chunks and make one image per chunk.
How many lines fit on one image?
Starting at the top, the Neat style fits about 8 lines, Messy about 9, and Cursive and Casual about 7 each, counting each wrapped line separately. Blank lines between paragraphs take a bit less than a full line.
Why does the text look like a normal computer font?
The handwriting fonts load from Google Fonts. If they have not loaded, for example on a slow or offline connection, the browser draws the text with a fallback font. Reload the page with an internet connection and wait a few seconds before downloading.
Why does the writing not sit on the ruled lines?
On lined paper the ruled lines are 36 pixels apart, but the text line spacing depends on the style (from about 34 to 42 pixels), so text drifts off the lines as you go down. Neat is the closest match; Blank or Grid paper avoids the issue.
Can I submit a generated image as handwritten work?
Only if your teacher or institution allows it. Many assignments require your own handwriting, so check the rules before submitting a generated image.
