How to Make a Printable Checklist Online (Packing, Shopping, To-Do)

Build a checklist in your browser from a travel, wedding, grocery or daily template, tick items off, print or save it as PDF, and know where the list is stored.

The short answer

Open the Checklist Maker, give your list a name, then type each item and press Enter. Tick items as you finish them and the progress bar shows how many are done. Your list is saved automatically in your browser on that device, and the Print button opens your browser's print dialog so you can print it or save it as a PDF. To start faster, load the travel, wedding, grocery or daily template and edit it.

What a good checklist looks like

A checklist works best when each line is a single action you can clearly tick off. Compare:

Vague itemClear item
Sort out documentsPut passport and visa copy in the front pocket
FoodBuy milk, eggs and bread
Wedding stuffConfirm the photographer's arrival time
Exercise more20-minute walk before 8 am

Short, specific items make the progress bar honest: an item is either done or not.

Step by step

  • Open the Checklist Maker.
  • Click the title (it starts as "My Checklist") and type a name, such as "Goa trip packing".
  • Type an item in the Add checklist item box and press Enter, or click + Add. Repeat for every item.
  • Tick the square next to an item when it is done. The item is struck through and turns green, and the bar shows something like "3/10 done".
  • To delete an item, use the × at the right end of its row. On a computer it appears when you hover over the row.
  • When the list is ready, click Print to print it or save it as a PDF.
  • There is no edit button for an item. To change the wording, delete it and add it again.

    Using the templates

Four templates give you a starting list of 8 to 10 common items:

    • Travel: passport or visa, flight tickets, hotel booking, travel insurance, charger and adaptor, medicines, cash and cards, clothes, toiletries, camera or phone.
    • Wedding: venue, catering, invitations, photography, decoration, music or DJ, both outfits, rings and honeymoon planning.
    • Grocery: vegetables, fruits, milk and dairy, rice or wheat, dal or lentils, cooking oil, spices, bread, eggs and snacks.
    • Daily: morning exercise, reading, emails, important tasks first, a social media rule, water, planning tomorrow and a gratitude journal.

Click a template name, confirm, and the template replaces your current list and its title. Then delete what you do not need and add your own items. If you already have a list you care about, print it or finish with it before loading a template.

    Printing and saving as PDF

The Print button opens your browser's normal print dialog for the whole page. A few tips for a clean result:

    • Save as PDF: choose "Save as PDF" (or "Microsoft Print to PDF" on Windows) as the printer to get a file you can share on WhatsApp or email.
    • The site header prints too. The print covers the whole page, not only the checklist. In the print dialog, use the page range or preview to keep only the pages you need.
    • Print before you tick. For a paper packing list, print the list with nothing ticked so you can mark items by hand.
    • Long lists: the list area scrolls on screen once it has more than a handful of items. Check the print preview to make sure every item is included before printing.

    Where your checklist is saved

The checklist is stored in your browser's local storage on the device you used. That means:

    • It is still there when you close the tab and come back later in the same browser on the same device.
    • It does not sync to your phone or another computer, and it is not stored in an account.
    • Private or incognito windows usually forget it when you close them.
    • Clearing your browser's site data or cookies for the site deletes it.
    • The tool holds one checklist at a time. Making a second list means replacing the first one, so print or save the first as PDF if you need to keep it.

Clear all removes every item straight away, without asking for confirmation. Use it only when you really want a fresh start.

Example: a packing checklist in five minutes

  • Load the Travel template.
  • Rename it to your trip, for example "Shimla trip, 4 days".
  • Delete what does not apply (perhaps travel insurance for a short domestic trip).
  • Add trip-specific items: warm jacket, gloves, power bank, ID card, hotel confirmation screenshot.
  • Print it, or save it as PDF and send it to the people travelling with you.
  • On the day, tick items on screen as you pack, or on the printed copy.
  • Checklist, notes or timer?

    Troubleshooting

    My list disappeared

Check that you are in the same browser, on the same device, and not in a private window. If you cleared browsing data, the list was deleted with it and cannot be recovered. Saving a PDF copy of important lists avoids this.

I cannot see the delete button on my phone

The × is hidden until you hover with a mouse. On a touch screen, tap near the right end of the item's row where the × sits.

Loading a template wiped my list

Templates always replace the current list. There is no undo, so print or save your list before loading one.

    Frequently asked questions

Is my checklist saved if I close the page?

Yes, in the same browser on the same device. It is stored in your browser's local storage, so it does not sync to other devices and is lost if you clear site data or use a private window.

Can I make more than one checklist?

The tool keeps one checklist at a time. Loading a template or clearing the list replaces it, so print or save your current list as a PDF first if you want to keep it.

How do I save my checklist as a PDF?

Click Print, then choose Save as PDF (or Microsoft Print to PDF on Windows) as the printer in your browser's print dialog.

Can I edit an item after adding it?

Not directly. Delete the item with the × at the end of its row and add it again with the new wording.
